The Problem
In Swaziland, a small African country, only one in every ten children will make it to the age of 30. One!
The AIDS/HIV epidemic and starvation has ravaged the country to the point that more people are dying than being born. The orphans of Swaziland have a dim future. With hallow eyes and swollen bellies they face the world abandoned and afraid. Most of these kids have lost their parents at a young age and are struggling to survive without any guidance. They will wake each day with no morning hello, kiss or hug from Mom or Dad. No warm touch, smile or even a guarantee of security. Children 3 years old are without shelter, sleeping beneath bushes and trees. They have no food or water and walk miles a day to seek whatever is being offered. These young children are waking each day knowing they must battle for their lives.
A child without food is a problem. A child without water and shelter is a problem. A child without love is a problem. Ultimately, these children need hope! Hope for a brighter future. The vicious cycle of death and hunger that surrounds these children needs to be broken. Above all, these children need to know the love of Jesus Christ and the hope he offers to every child in Swaziland.
